Borderlands 2: Handsome Jack Digistruct Holster

So this is a piece that I made for my Borderlands 2 Handsome Jack character cosplay. So the piece is a digital construction gun holster that Handsome Jack wears on his right leg that supplies him with an infinite amount of weaponry from Hyperion (the company that Jack himself owns in the game).

The big thing with this project was that it was the first time that I had ever use LEDs in a prop before and needed to learn for the ground up how to solder and manage differing capacities of LEDs with resisters. after starting only with a printout template and cutting the general shape out of a double layered stack of wood, I began to start making cuts to position my LEDs in the correct locations. After making these locations correctly I move to actually wiring the project. In this I used premade automotive LED strip, combined with a basic housed LED for the central lens.

I later took measurement from the channel and lens circle the made clay mold for casting very basic resin diffusers for both. For resin I ended up using plain Smooth-On branded clear resin. After making the lens diffusers, I began to create the detailing pieces that would lay on top of the piece. Once those
pieces were complete, I painted and assembled the
prop, which you can see below.

The costume was worn at Colossalcon 2013 and won a
judge's award for prop work.
